What is NIT?
NIT: A group of Educational Engineering Institutes. Which is one of the best and public institutes to get higher education.
NIT colleges are located in almost all the states. It started in 2001 AD. Its main objective was to provide good and qualified engineers, scientists, and technologists to the country. And it has been fulfilling this purpose ever since.
The First NIT institute in India was started in Allahabad in 2001 AD and the Second NIT institute was started from Bhopal in 2002 AD. Till now a total of 31 institutes of NITs have been opened in different states and regions across India.

Qualifications for admission at NITs?
If you also want to study at NIT then you have to clear JEE(Main) exam.
For which it is necessary to pass the 10th and 12th examination conducted by your state board or Central Board of Secondary Education with good marks (60-80%).
If you have passed the 10th and 12th exams with good marks then you can apply for JEE exam.
JEE Exam
For taking admission in engineering, there are many examinations at the state level, but for national level engineering, JEE exam is the only one.
That’s full form is the Joint Entrance Exam. Which is conducted by CBSE 4 times a year.
However, since 2013, JEE exam is being conducted in two levels. In which first is JEE Main and the second is JEE Advanced.
But for admission in NITs, you have to clear only JEE(Main) Exam.
JEE Main
JEE Main is an exam for taking admission in reputed universities like NITs, IIITs & IITs. That’s name is included in some of the difficult examinations of the country.
What are the qualifications required to appear for JEE Main?
- The candidate must be 10+2.
- Must have passed 11th and 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) subjects or should be studying in 12th.
- It is mandatory to have a minimum of 60% marks in 12th.
Note- Student who is studying in 12th. He can also appear in this exam but if the student fails in the 12th board exam or is not able to score a minimum of 60% marks then he will not be given admission even after passing in JEE Main.

JEE Exam is of full 3 hours in which questions are asked from the following subjects.

- 25 questions are asked from each subject. Out of which 20 questions are objective and 5 questions are subjective.
- 4 Marks are given for every correct answer.
- No marks are given for each wrong answer but 1 mark is deducted. Which we know by the name of negative marking.
- No number is added or deducted when a question is left out.

What is the fee in NIT?
To study in any NIT in India, the student had to pay ₹70,000-1,20,000 as tuition fees per year.
The fees for the first semester in NIT colleges are higher as compared to other semesters as other fees are also attached to it.

Fee Waivers
- SC / ST and PWD i.e. differently-abled are given leave on tuition fees but no exemption is given in additional fees like hotel and library.
- Students whose annual family income is less than ₹ 1,00,000. A fee waiver facility is available for them (NO Fee).
- The same students whose family annual income is between ₹ 1,00,000 to ₹ 5,00,000. There is a facility for them to pay one-third of the tuition fee (⅓).
- All eligible students can take advantage of this scheme.
