Educational qualifications

  • Candidate must be pass class 12th (10+2).
  • The candidate must be a graduate of any stream from a recognized college. If any student is now final year then he applies for the UPSC exam.

A candidate who has completed his graduation degree but is working in an internship program can also apply for the exam.

Candidates who have passed the ICAI, CWA, or ICSI exam can also apply for the UPSC exam.

1st way: UPSC

  • Pass the 12th class with good marks.
  • Graduate from the recognized college approved by govt in any stream.

Apply for the UPSC Civil Services Exam

After graduation, the candidate can apply for the UPSC CSE exam. To give this exam, the candidate visits UPSC’s official website www.upsc.gov.in and apply there.

After that, you are called to give an exam by UPSC.

Crack the UPSC CS Exam

This exam is conducted by UPSC.  UPSC is a central government organization that conducts examinations all over the country.

 It consists of three (3) stages.

  1. Preliminary Exam (Prelims)
  2. Mains Exam (Mains)
  3. Interview

Step 1: Preliminary Exam (Prelims) for IPS officer

It consists of 2 papers. Which are of 200+200 marks. This exam is a total of 400 marks. This exam is conducted in Hindi and English languages.

Each paper is for two to 2 hours. There is also a negative marking of 0.33 marks and this entire paper is objective type.

Step 2: Mains Exam (Mains) for IPS officer

There are a total of 9 papers in it.  This paper is of a total of 1750 marks.  In which 7 papers are for merit ranking and the remaining 2 papers are very few marks. 

This exam is held in January. In this exam,  candidates must write answers as explanations on the answer sheet.

Optional subject

There are 2 papers, which are optional subjects.  The candidate can choose their favourite subject, there are a total of 48 subjects in which the candidate can choose any one of his subjects. These papers are of 500 marks.

Step 3: Interview for IPS officer

There are very few candidates who remain for the interview. In the interview, following skills of the candidate are tested.

There are a total of 24 services in UPSC, for which candidates are selected through the Civil Services Examination.  These are divided into two categories, All India Services and Central Services.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recruits every year for grades and posts of IAS, IPS, IRS and many government departments.  The Civil Services Exam is the toughest exam in the country.

Group A and Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers are selected.  

Under Central services, there are services of group A and group B. Officers of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) are selected under the All India Services. 

The people selected in these are given the cadre of states and union territories

At the same time, there are group A and Group B services under Central Services.  Indian Foreign Service (IFS) under Group A Services. 

Officers are selected for Indian Civil Accounts Service Indian Revenue Service (IAS), Indian Railway Service (IRTS and IRPS) and Indian Information Service (IIS) Services.

Apart from this, Group B includes services like Civil Service, Puducherry Service, Dehli and Andaman Nicobar Island, Civil and Police Service in the Armed Forces Headquarters.

Merit for IPS officer –

 The candidates who pass the mains exam have to fill a Detail Application Form (DAF) based on which the personality test is conducted. 

Based on the information filled in one go, the questions are asked to the candidate during the interview by adding the number obtained in the interview.  Merit list is prepared and All India Rocking is decided by it.

Different categories (General, SC, ST, OBC, EWS) are prepared.  IAS, IPS or IFS rank is given based on ranking. 

Top bankers get IAS.  But many times if top rankers prefer IPS or IRS, then lower bankers can also get a post in IAS.  The ranks after this get IPS and IFS posts.

2nd way: By SPSC

The State Police Service Commission(SPSC) is based on state.

Ex- if you live in Uttar Pradesh,then your name is Uttar Pradesh police service commission. if you live in another state then the name should be of another state.

It is very similar to UPSC.
