What are the main alternatives to an Online BCA?

The three alternatives Aimpur tracks are IIT Madras's BS in Data Science and Applications, IIT Guwahati's BSc in Data Science & AI, and BITS Pilani's BSc in Computer Science delivered via Coursera. They are not BCA degrees: each has a narrower Data Science, AI or Computer Science focus, different entry requirements, and a different fee level. Aimpur earns no referral commission from any of them.

Is an IIT or BITS programme better than an Online BCA?

There is no universal answer. An Online BCA is a broad computer applications degree that usually accepts all streams and has the lowest verified total fees. An IIT or BITS alternative can be a stronger fit if you have strong Mathematics, want a focused Data Science, AI or Computer Science degree, and can meet the entry requirements. The right choice depends on your stream, maths comfort, budget and career target — not on the institution's brand alone.

Can Arts and Commerce students apply to these alternatives?

Eligibility differs by programme. IIT Madras is open to all 10+2 graduates through an online qualifier, though strong Mathematics is recommended. IIT Guwahati accepts 10+2 from any stream and uses an online entrance test; Mathematics is helpful but not mandatory for every track. BITS Pilani requires Physics and Mathematics at 10+2, so Arts and Commerce students without those subjects are not eligible. Always confirm the current eligibility rules on the official programme page.

Are these alternatives UGC-DEB approved?

Aimpur has not independently verified UGC-DEB status for these three programmes, and they are not BCA programmes. Before applying, check the degree's current recognition and approval details on the official university page, and confirm the rules that apply to the intake you are joining. For an Online BCA, Aimpur shows UGC-DEB status per university because approval is session-specific.

How much do the alternatives cost compared with an Online BCA?

The alternative-programme fees are approximate: about ₹1,80,000 at IIT Guwahati, about ₹2,00,000 at IIT Madras, and about ₹4,25,000 at BITS Pilani. The verified Online BCA range is ₹49,800 to ₹1,77,000. Alternative fees can change by intake and are not verified by Aimpur, so confirm them on the official page.

Do these alternatives require an entrance exam?

IIT Madras uses an online qualifier exam that is open to all 10+2 graduates. IIT Guwahati uses an online entrance test. BITS Pilani lists Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 plus English proficiency as requirements, and the current admission process should be confirmed on its official page. Most Online BCA programmes in Aimpur's dataset do not require an entrance exam.

Does Aimpur earn commission from these alternatives?

No. Aimpur earns referral commission only when a student successfully enrols at a partner BCA university. We earn nothing from IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati or BITS Pilani. We include them because an honest shortlist should show when a different degree may fit better — even when it does not earn us revenue.

Should I choose an Online BCA or an alternative?

Choose an Online BCA if you want a broad computer applications degree, a lower confirmed fee, and the widest choice of universities and specialisations. Consider an alternative if you are strong in Mathematics, want a focused Data Science, AI or Computer Science curriculum, can meet the entry route, and can budget more. Do not treat the qualifications as interchangeable: compare the syllabus and the jobs each one actually prepares you for.

You are comfortable with a more self-paced or specialised learning format.
You can budget roughly ₹1.8–4.25 lakh and want to prioritise the specialisation over breadth.
